Telecommunication Development in Mexico

Telecommunication development in Mexico is one, or probably the most developed, in the whole Latin America. Despite its weak and unstable past, with the development and improvement it endured Mexico now offers clear connections to other network providers even outside the country.

Telecommunication was brought to the attention of the Mexican state when modernization or current laws and policies were called for. This modernizations and liberalization was spear-headed by Carlos Salinas as a means of improving the economical state of Mexico. He changed the framework, telecom agencies as well as reprivatizing the monopoly over the telephone company. This privatization has a downside since the rates of its services are still a bit high compared to that in the US or Canada.

If one is to weigh the benefits gained from this and its consequences, there would probably be more advantages that modernization of telecommunication has brought. For one, it opened Mexico to a whole lot of opportunities. Employment and job openings increased because more investors and businessmen are now able to access the Mexican market. Ease of communication made businesses more efficient in rendering better services to their clients. This would then translate to more foreigners and clients that were good for the economy.

As the economy improved, so did the standards of living. This clearly showed how one aspect of a country’s economical resources affected the lives and living of its own people. The telecom services offered in Mexico doesn’t only include landline coverage but also all modern technologies. This includes the latest GSM as well as 3G technologies that most well-developed countries are using. This does not only put Mexico in the game but it also shows its capability to compete in the world market. With this, Mexico definitely has a future and capabilities in improving its economy.
