As the crimes increased in the area of Mexico, more and more people are turning to social media to get information on what’s going on. The citizens who are updated with social media connections get to acquire vital information that the local news media does not immediately relay or may not relay at all.

The safety and the availability of valuable information work hand in hand. Just like the happenings seen in some areas in Mexico, the local people help each other warned where there are killings happening so that others could avoid those areas. A lot of eye witnesses of violent crimes would post on their social media accounts about the crimes that they have seen. This gives the other citizens in the area some warning. Since many people are turning to these accounts for news and updates, the local government had made it a law that social media cannot be used for undermining the laws of the government. The local news cannot update the citizens about the happenings because they are also not allowed to disseminate information due to corruption and other complicated reasons.

Even though the use of social media has helped other people, it can also be a source of fear and panic. There are special cases where false news is written on certain accounts thus spreading false rumors. There are also warnings for people who are using social media to disseminate information. In one particular case two bodies were found dead with a warning that says the same would happen to other social media enthusiasts. But still it has proved a necessity for the citizens to use social media for gathering important information. It also provided the gap left behind by the press. It even became a part of their survival tactics. Therefore there are groups of people who say that they have each other’s back and that they are helping each other so that they could spread the much needed information even though their lives may be at stake.

Telecommunications all over the world have improved greatly. Before it used to be in few forms only like fax, telephone, pagers, and more but now there is so much more especially with the Internet about. Even cellular phones have improved from being a mobile phone that can be carried around to being able to do texting, logging on to social media sites, acting as a GPS and so much more.

Mexico has renewed its laws and regulations in order to adapt to the rise of telecommunication industry. It has taken advantage of its boom and because of this Mexico was able to become a viable industry that foreign business firms can invest upon. The market has become competitive and Mexico was able to keep its cool and now it’s proving itself a good potential for U.S. companies. There is a local company that is running almost half of the phone services but still there is so much more that foreign firms can provide for Mexico’s telecommunication needs.

U.S and Mexico have been building ties that will be beneficial for the growth of the business deals. They have been sharing information and contacts that will benefit both sides. Even though Telmex has immensely benefitted from the new telecommunications policy, other firms will still be able to offer deals that Mexico might deem more beneficial for the country. There is another stumbling block that foreign firms will have to deal with. It’s in the policies that foreign firms can only work in telecommunications world if the deal will only be 49% owned by the foreign countries. There has to be a tie with Mexican counterparts otherwise the business deal will not be accepted.

The new policies do not only benefit big companies, it also allows small companies to take part in the business boom. Both company types have their own advantages. The small companies will be able to cater to the needs of the market that the bigger companies will not be able to provide. Some examples are software products, faster communications and more.

Telcel is the largest telecommunication provider of Mexico. It is a part of América Móvil. It is also the prominent supplier of wireless communication services. As of 2006, it is has supplied up to 63% of Mexico’s areas. As such it has up to date offers for its clients. One of their recent offers is the newly released iPhone 4S.

The iPhone 4S was just out this October and Telcel already has deals for its clients who want to acquire this most awaited version iPhone. The monthly fee for the rental plan they offer is $1,029. The plan includes 420 minutes of local calls, free calls to Unlimited Telcel for the first 5 minutes, 20 monthly SMS, etc. A fee of $0.88 is charge for every SMS after the monthly allowance is used up. The monthly fee for those who want to get the phone is $3,789 for a 16GB phone and $5,309 for a 32 GB phone. Those prices are for the 12 months plan. If the plan is for 18 months the monthly cost will be $1,109 for 16GB and $2,629 for 32GB. The other plan, which runs for 24 months, is $739 per month for the 32GB phone and it’s free for the 16GB phone.

The features of iPhone 4S are quite good even though a lot seem to be disappointed. The following are some of the key features. The lens of is upgraded to 8megapixels and is running dual-core A5 processor. The graphical processing power has also increase up to seven times more than its previous version. It also has voice recognition feature that can make the user control the phone through voice commands. It claims to be the slimmest smart phone and it has a lot of apps that can be availed from the Apple app store. So in context it still much better than the iPhone 4 released last year.

In the world today, technological advancements have clearly paved the way in improving every person’s life. From microwaves to cars to computers and the internet, the world indeed became smaller for people. It made it possible for a person to remain in contact with his family even if they are on opposite sides of the world.

Another innovative and one of the hottest inventions today, is mobile phones. It is a means of constantly being in touch with the one’s we love simply by a few clicks. This development is clearly seen in every country, including Mexico.

The drastic improvement in telecommunication and cellular service is clearly seen. During the past years, there was limited to none network coverage available in Mexico which causes problems for visiting foreigners, more importantly businessmen. Though rates may still be an issue for some, existence of network coverage has improved the lives and economic standards in Mexico.

The principal cellular service provider in Mexico is owned by business tycoon Carlos Slim. Telcel as it is known utilizes GSM network on the bands 850 and 1900. These are the bands compatible with the frequencies that GSM carriers in the United States as well as Canada use. This makes it possible for AT&T and T-mobile users to have good network coverage while in Mexico.

For those who have incompatible service providers, options are available for you to use a cellular phone. One would be to buy a sim card specifically designed for Mexico use. It offers relatively cheap rates for calls made within the country and outside of it. Another option is to buy a TelCel sim card so you can communicate within Mexico.

A lot of options are available if you want to communicate within and from Mexico. Choose which is more available and practical.

Telecommunication development in Mexico is one, or probably the most developed, in the whole Latin America. Despite its weak and unstable past, with the development and improvement it endured Mexico now offers clear connections to other network providers even outside the country.

Telecommunication was brought to the attention of the Mexican state when modernization or current laws and policies were called for. This modernizations and liberalization was spear-headed by Carlos Salinas as a means of improving the economical state of Mexico. He changed the framework, telecom agencies as well as reprivatizing the monopoly over the telephone company. This privatization has a downside since the rates of its services are still a bit high compared to that in the US or Canada.

If one is to weigh the benefits gained from this and its consequences, there would probably be more advantages that modernization of telecommunication has brought. For one, it opened Mexico to a whole lot of opportunities. Employment and job openings increased because more investors and businessmen are now able to access the Mexican market. Ease of communication made businesses more efficient in rendering better services to their clients. This would then translate to more foreigners and clients that were good for the economy.

As the economy improved, so did the standards of living. This clearly showed how one aspect of a country’s economical resources affected the lives and living of its own people. The telecom services offered in Mexico doesn’t only include landline coverage but also all modern technologies. This includes the latest GSM as well as 3G technologies that most well-developed countries are using. This does not only put Mexico in the game but it also shows its capability to compete in the world market. With this, Mexico definitely has a future and capabilities in improving its economy.

As with all businesses, competitors are bound to arise and put up challenges a company has to face. In terms of telecommunications, the rates of its services are the main point that consumers weigh in choosing their service provider. This is the main reason why competitors in the telecommunications market aim to have the lowest rates with the best services.

This is also why issues may arise from services providers between countries. Back in 2002, a complaint was filed by the United States of America regarding Mexico’s long distance rates. According to the rules, US carriers had to connect first with a Mexican network for the user to terminate the long distance call. Also, Telmex which is the leading telecom company in Mexico has the power to negotiate the rates of termination and lastly, it did not allow US carriers to have lease lines to end calls. Common end point is the rates turn out to be higher.

This dispute was solved with the aid of the World Trade Organization or WTO. Based on the evaluation, Mexico was found to have violated its obligations. It despoiled its commitment to make sure that the basis for connection by US operators was cost-based. Also, it was not able to prevent Telmex from engaging in acts considered to be under anti-competitive. Lastly, it also did not keep its obligation to ensure that Mexican lines are available to be leased to United States carriers who are currently employed or working in Mexico. Due to this, US carriers were unable to provide adequate resale services.

To remedy these problems, both parties agreed to have a compromise and have a mutual agreement. The telecom competition exists and it is very stiff, especially in terms of aspects that can have a great effect on the country’s economics.
